You're Ruining Your Skin Without Realizing While Doing These Things
Sometimes we tend to do things to our skin with good intention but we don’t realize that it actually has a bad effect on it. As frustrating as it can be when you’re trying to have a clear and healthy skin and not seeing result it’s definitely there. You just need to be more patient and not do the things that will make all that effort go away in a second. Here are some things that you should stop doing if you want to maintain the health of your skin on a long run.
RUBBING YOUR FACE
Washing you face is something we think about more than we think about how we dry it. Using harsh towel to dry out your skin can really damage it. More so if you rub it too hard. Skin on your face is very gentle and you should have that in mind. The best way to dry your skin is to use clean towel and gently pat it or use your hands. It’s proven that whit patting your skin it absorbs water which make it hydrated and it’ll look glowy. Too much exfoliating is also not good as you’re rinsing off natural oils that your skin produces. It’ll leave your skin irritated, dry and patchy which is exactly the opposite of the exfoliating purpose. Dermatologist’s say that you shouldn’t exfoliate more than 3 times a week.
I would recommend you to try a natural exfoliating technique. Mix half of teaspoon of sugar with teaspoon of honey. Gently apply it on your face with circular motions. Sugar is the gentlest exfoliator you can find. You can easily find sugar scrubs in drugstores but I personally prefer to make my own as it’s very easy and affordable. Honey helps to moisturize your skin and it has antibacterial activity.
NOT TAKING MAKEUP OFF
I’m sure that you have heard this about thousand times now but repetition is the mother of knowledge so I’ll just remind you why this is so important. If you like to apply your makeup every single day then I’m sure you’re using quite a lot of different products. We tend to focus more on our base as that’s the area that has the most imperfections. You are closing your pores with moisturizer, concealer, foundation, powder, blush, etc. Leaving all of those products on your skin over night prevent your skin from breathing. This leads to breakouts, blackheads, redness, clogged and expand pores.
One of the problem is also that those who regularly take off their makeup think that they’ve done it right. Just washing your face with soap or cleanser doesn’t mean that you’ve taken all of your makeup away. You should go over your face with micellar water or cleanser made for removing makeup. Try to go over your whole face. Just take your time as that is how you’ll really remove all of your makeup. When you’re taking off your eye makeup gently press the cotton pad and don’t rub it as the skin around your eyes is very gentle and sensitive.
USING MAKEUP PRODUCTS FOR TO LONG
When was the last time you checked when you started using your mascara, lipstick or eyeshadow? When you think about expired products I’m sure the last thing that comes to your mind is makeup. Although some makeup products you can use for a long time the problem is that on most of the makeup products there isn’t an expiration date. They would usually say to use it for 3 months, half a year or a year since you opened it. I don’t know about you but I just can’t remember when I first started to use a product. This is really bad as using expired makeup product is really bad for your skin.
It’s necessary to replace expired makeup products as they attract bacteria which are definitely something you don’t want on your face. With regular checkouts you can prevent breakouts, redness, irritated skin and eye infection. You can buy a little stick notes and write a date you opened the product on and stick it on the product or have a separate notebook and write it down. I would definitely recommend you to not buy another eyeshadow palette when you still have two of them in your makeup bag. Try to use up the products you already have before buying new ones.
POPPING PIMPLES
As annoying as that pimple on your chin is and as much as you try not to pop it I’m sure that most of the times you fail, like most of us as well. But the thing is that we are running our skin by doing it. When your pimple is already swollen and it’s irritating your skin it’s not a best idea to squeeze it and make it even worse. Most of the times as soon as you squeeze it it gets bigger and more painful. You are just expanding the time that it’s on your face and annoying you. The better option is to take extra care of your skin and products you’re using.
Maybe some of the makeup products irritates your skin and make it break out more. Carefully taking all of your makeup and letting your skin breath as I already mentioned before has a big impact on your skin. Your diet is also something that can increase acne and pimples. Try to add as much vegetables and fruits in your diet as well as staying hydrated. Replace soda with water and coffee with green tea as those are the best options for the health of your skin but also overall body.
