What To Do When You Don't Feel Creative & Inspired Anymore?

We all get in that slump where we just don’t feel inspired at all or in some aspects of our lives. It doesn’t matter if you are in creative business or not. It’s just that those who create for living or that are generally more creative as a person feel it stronger and it can have a bigger effect on their lives. It’s the biggest nightmare of most influencers and any kind of creators. Some deal with it better and some (like myself) struggle to get out of it. For those who struggle a lot I have a few tips that might help you get that creativity flowing again.

FIND THE CAUSE
With any problem that you have it’s the best to just start from the root of that problem. What happened that you in one moment felt so inspired and creative and then in another one you just gave up and decided to stay in that mood. This is the first and the hardest part. I realized that most of the times when we make plans of all the things we want to do, blog post to write and photos to take we are overcome by excitement, happiness and desire to achieve it all. But then when all those emotions start to fade you feel anxious because now you actually need to start working on all of the things you put in front of you.

We first imagined how we achieved all of our goals but know we think about what if we fail. Being creative isn’t as easy as it may sound. Especially nowadays when almost everything has been done and we feel like there’s nothing new that we can share with the world. If the fear of not being able to put your creativity to reality is the start of your creative block than now you need to shift your mindset. Felling anxious, nervous and scared will just block your mind even harder. Try to get back to that first mindset you had and maintain it. Put as little pressure on yourself as you can.

DO WHAT YOU WANT
Now that you finally know what the problem is, think about what part of the creativity you like the most. If you like to do crafts, paint, write, photograph, etc. start with that. The first thing that comes into your mind. The point is that you need to just start it, no matter what it may be. Start making that decoration, grab a brush and let your hand leads the way, write about anything that comes to your mind, take a camera and just start shooting…It doesn’t need to be great, it doesn’t even need to be good it just need to be something. Don’t think about what you need to do or what you think others expect from you.

Go back to the place when you started do be creative because you wanted to and because it made you feel some sort of way. When you find that spark inside of you and find that joy, you’ll slowly start to get out of the slump. If you have a very hard creative block don’t expect to immediately get back to your old self as it can make you get even deeper. Take it day by day. Listen to yourself and what works for you the best. If you start to feel anxious again, stop for a minute. It’s important to ease into it and not overdo it.

SHARE YOUR PAIN
I can guarantee you that you are not the only one who feels uninspired, unmotivated, and uncreative. Although we may all feel it in different ways we still share that pain in some sort of way. Talk about it to anyone who you think could help you. It may be your best friend, boyfriend, mom, your blogging pals or any online creator. Tweet about it and you’ll see that you’re not alone. Sharing your experience with others but also listening to what others are going through may help you a lot. When you keep it inside and just leave it be you’ll waste so much time that you could have spend on something that brings you joy.

If you don’t like to talk to others about your problems than write about them. Getting it off from your chest will make you feel at peace. Maybe only when you see it written down you’ll be able to realize that it’s time to do something to get you out of this state. Most of the time we just take it as it is because it’s the easiest way to deal with it. We push it back to our unconsciousness until it’s too much for us to handle. For those who are naturally creative this can be a big issue. So don’t let it bulk up and get rid of that negativity that is holding you down.

When was the last time you suffered from creatives block?
 How long did it lasted?
How do you deal with it?
