How to Pick the Best Self-care Routine for You
Self-care is probably something you read or heard about a lot in a past couple of years. It became one of the most popular topics for so many authors, bloggers and YouTubers. They are all talking about what self-care should be like and how you can incorporate it in your life but I haven’t heard a lot of them talking about how to choose the right one for yourself.
When you look about all the self-care routines out there it can be quite overwhelming to know what would work the best for you. This post might help you to realize what you should look at while choosing the best self-care routine for yourself.
WORK AROUND YOUR SCHEDULE
Not a lot of people have free hour to soak in baths, meditate or do yoga. In fact some don’t even have a half an hour. Self-care for some might feel like a real privilege and they tend to feel guilty if they use it. You are the one who knows the best how your day is going, when you feel the most productive, energized and happy but also when you feel lazy, tired and unmotivated.
The best time to have a self-care routine is probably when you start to feel drained. It’s when you need that quality me time the most. Don’t try and just push it in wherever just to say that you have a self-care routine as it won’t be as beneficial. It’s usually perceived that a routine should be in one go when in fact you can separate it throughout your day.

DO WHAT FEELS BEST
Just because it’s a routine it doesn’t mean that you can’t change things around. It’s normal that one day you’ll feel like doing half an hour of Yoga but on another one you might prefer just a relaxing walk in the nature or perhaps a nap. Each day is different and so is your mood and your emotions.
Don’t force yourself to do something just because others are doing it. Self-care is reflection of what you need and want to take care of yourself. Your physical, mental and emotional part. In my opinion a lot of people choose not to do it at all when they feel like they need to and not want to do something. Try to get rid of what you think you know about self-care and think about it only from your perspective.
DON’T BURN TOO FAST
When we feel really passionate and excited about a new idea, thought or activity we tend to start very aggressive for some time and then burn out. It happens when that passion and excitement start to fade away. Self-care shouldn’t be just for a season it should be something carefully incorporated into your life.
Remember to take it slow and be mindful about it. That way you’ll have more fun with it and you’ll see a change in your overall health. Don’t think about it as a trend you need to follow because everyone else is. Think about it as a way of you making time to reconnect with yourself on a deeper level.
DON’T FEEL INTIMIDATED
Some decide not to build a self-care routine as they are too overwhelmed with the whole idea of it. I think that the word “routine” is what is scaring them. It feels even more intimidating when it’s made to be something so big and important. It’s only hard when you start doing it for the wrong reasons.
It doesn’t need to be perfect it just needs to be appropriate for your lifestyle. Some days you will have incredible self-care and others you just maybe won’t even feel like doing anything. It’s all about knowing how you feel and forcing yourself is definitely not a form of self-care.
