How To Stay Sane When The World Is Going Cray-Cray
It has been a few months now since the world got cray-cray. As serious as this whole thing is, we still need to find ways to keep our sanity. We are all feeling and dealing with hard situations differently. Some may find stability in entertainment while others like to have their facts checked. As long as we are not going into extreme we are going to be just fine. However, you are dealing with this pandemic, here are some of the things that may help you to stay on the right track until the situations get better and it eventually will.
SELECT YOUR SOURCE OF INFORMATION
It is inevitable to watch, read, and listen about coronavirus. There probably isn't a news channel or a website that isn't talking about it which is not strange given the circumstances. One thing to have in mind is the source you are getting your information from. Most media take advantage of this situation to get as many views as they can while at the same time providing very little scientific proof to what they are stating. As soon as you open any news site you will be bombarded with negative information about coronavirus which will make you panic and feel anxious.
There is scientific proof that negative news has a big impact on your overall health. It is especially damaging as it triggers anxiety and depression. Always be very selective about the things you watch, read, or listen to. Try to find sources that give you different perspectives and with that, you can have a better chance to notice what is true and what is over-exaggerated. When you read a few different sources of information you will slowly start to notice a pattern in the way certain networks present the news.
TAKE A BREAK FROM NEWS
As tempting as it is to check the news every few moments it may be for the better to just stay away from them for some time. I am not suggesting to completely ignore any news, I am merely recommending to choose one part of your they when for the few minutes you check what happened in the meanwhile. The problem starts when we do it too often and our mind is occupied with so much negative information at once. I know that a lot of people like to check new first thing in the morning but I honestly don't think that it is a great idea. When you are confronted with bad news early in the morning it can put a bad note for the rest of the day.
It would be best to leave news for a little bit later in the day. Nowadays it is harder than never to stay away from bad news because of the impact of social media. We are constantly scrolling through different apps which leads us to eventually get across negative information. Try to narrow your news input to the most important information. That way you will have it under control and you won't feel nervous and anxious whenever you check the news.
FOCUS ON YOUR WELL-BEING
These are the hard times and worrying about the things that are not under our control will make them even harder. We need to focus on things we can do to make this whole situation at least a little bit easier. Following the rules of the authority and taking care of our own health, physical and mental, is what we should focus on. Most of us feel powerless and worried. We feel like we need to do something but at the same time, there isn't much what we can do. Well, even if our part is the smallest it will add up and eventually help in the long-run. Caring about your own health isn't selfish it is actually caring about the others as well.
Check-in with yourself, your emotions, and thoughts. Make sure that you are focusing on the positive side of all this and find joy in little things. We are all in this together but that doesn't mean that you need to do the same things others are doing. Find what makes your soul happy and implement that in your everyday life. Don't try to squeeze yourself in some kind of box of what you think you should be doing while self-isolating. Focus on what feels good and keeps you sane.
How are you staying sane with everything going on?
Do you have any methods of staying positive?
